3. Build Your Contest Brief

A great brief leads to great content. Give creators clear direction and set them up for success.

Updated today

Your brief is the most important part of your contest. It educates creators about your product and provides clear guidelines for creating content. Simplicity and clarity are key to receiving high-quality, organic content that performs.

Add Inspiration Content

Inspiration content is one of the most important steps — it shows creators what success looks like and powers the AI Brief Builder.

We recommend adding at least one TikTok or Instagram link so the AI can generate the best brief. Other links can also be added and will be visible to creators.

For each piece of inspiration:

  1. Paste the link to the video

  2. Add a description explaining why this example works

Click Add Link to add each piece of inspiration content. Once added, you'll see a thumbnail preview of each video.

Where to find inspiration:

  • TikTok

  • Instagram Reels

  • YouTube Shorts

  • Facebook/Meta Ads Library

Tips for choosing inspiration:

  • Look for videos with high engagement in your niche

  • Check what your competitors are doing and see what's working for them

  • Find content that educates, entertains, or sparks curiosity

  • Add 3 to 5 examples with notes on why each one works

Project Overview

The Project Overview is where you describe what you're looking for. This is the main body of your brief that creators will read.

You have two options:

Option 1: Generate with AI

Click the Generate with AI button to have the AI Brief Builder create your brief automatically. The AI analyzes your inspiration content and combines it with your product description to generate a complete brief — fine-tuned for your brand.

Learn more about how this works in our AI Brief Builder article.

Option 2: Write Manually

Write your brief directly in the text editor. Use the formatting tools to add headers, bullet points, links, and more.

Set Rules

Below the Project Overview, you'll find the Set Rules section. Use this to add specific requirements and restrictions for creators.

What to include:

  • Language requirements

  • Required elements (e.g., "Show the app for at least 3 seconds")

  • Calls to action

  • Prohibited content (e.g., "Don't mention competitor brands")

  • Any mandatory hashtags or disclosures

What Your Brief Should Include

Whether you use the AI or write manually, your brief should cover:

1. Product Overview

  • What your product is

  • Why users love it

  • Key features to highlight (keep it focused — don't overload)

  • Product access links (download links, website URL)

2. Content Direction

  • The style and format you're looking for

  • What kind of content works best (educational, entertaining, viral)

  • Examples of successful content

3. Rules and Requirements

  • Language requirements

  • Required elements (e.g., "Show the app for at least 3 seconds")

  • Calls to action

  • Prohibited content (e.g., "Don't mention competitor brands")

Keep It Focused

Don't overload creators with too many details. Focus on:

  • The core feature that will entice viewers to click

  • A subtle call to action to keep the content feeling organic

The goal is to drive clicks to your product, not explain every detail in the video. Let your product or website do the deeper explaining.

Next Steps

Once your brief is ready, click Next to add assets and resources that creators can use in their content.
